What should I use to clean my vehicle’s touchscreen?

Regardless of whether you’re cleaning the touchscreen in your vehicle or your smartphone/tablet, you’ll need many of the same products and tools. Some of the things you might need include:

• Distilled water
• Microfiber cloth
• Cotton swabs
• Clorox Disinfecting wipes
• Isopropyl alcohol
• Dish soap

Most modern touchscreens have a special coating on them that is designed to make them resistant to fingerprint smudges. Getting your microfiber cloth a little damp with distilled water and wiping device screens down is a good regular practice, but these times require a little more disinfecting firepower. The Clorox wipes will kill just about anything that is living on your devices and screen. It’s important to turn them off and remove the batteries (if applicable) so you can get in all the nooks and crannies.

This should go without saying but, you should never, under any circumstances, submerge your devices in any kind of liquid. However, when you’re cleaning them with these products, make sure everything is dry before putting them back together.

If you can get your hands on some disposable gloves while your cleaning your phones, tablets and touchscreens, that would be ideal. It is definitely recommended that you wash your hands thoroughly after your done cleaning anything.

How do I disinfect the rest of my car?

While you’re cleaning your vehicle’s touchscreen, you might as well wipe down the rest of the surfaces. Most vehicles have a lot of electronics packed into the steering wheel, so you can pretty much use the same cleaning protocols for that as you did with your other devices. The dashboard, door handles, console surfaces and seatbelt buckles can all be vigorously scrubbed with soap and warm water.
