How far can you drive using EV Mode in the 2021 Toyota Venza or Sienna?

You would think we would be used to Toyota breaking new ground in the automotive industry by now. Yet, every time they release something new, we continue to be blown away. Earlier last month the latest vehicle announcement from our manufacturing partner involved an all-new hybrid crossover SUV and a minivan with a standard hybrid powertrain. Not only will these vehicles be more fuel-efficient than their gasoline-powered counterparts, but they will also be able to use an increasingly popular feature to make some short trips without using any gas whatsoever. So, how far can you drive using EV Mode in the 2021 Toyota Venza or Sienna? The exact numbers have yet to be released, but we can make some educated guesses.

The 2021 Toyota Sienna and 2021 Toyota Venza are among the growing number of the automaker’s vehicles that are equipped with driver-selectable driving modes, Normal, Eco, Sport and EV. All modes in both vehicles will adjust several systems to deliver the kind of performance the person behind the wheel wants. Normal Mode is pretty self-explanatory. Eco Mode changes the throttle and emissions program to maximize fuel economy and reduce exhaust. Sport will give the vehicles a little more acceleration for a more dynamic experience.

However, EV Mode is why where here. When a driver of the 2021 Venza or Sienna makes that selection, it will essentially shut-off the gas engine and draw power from the onboard Lithium-Ion battery system. The current information about either vehicle says that, ‘EV mode allows for electric-only driving at low speeds for short distances.’

Toyota may have left a clue for the two newest hybrid vehicles in a release about the 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime. That plug-in hybrid platform is reported to be able to travel nearly 40 miles on a single charge. It stands to reason that the 2021 Venza and the 2021 Sienna would be able to deliver very similar EV-only range figures.
