Updates to Toyota Driver-Assistive Safety Technology
Toyota has been working on updates to its Toyota Safety Sense equipment and is now debuting it in North America with the release of the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback! We’re taking a look at what changes and additions have been made. Check out the updates to Toyota driver-assistive safety technology.
The updated safety package includes carry-over technologies from the original Toyota Safety Sense suite of safety systems. These technologies have been refined from the first-generation of the Toyota Safety Sense. The pre-existing technologies include the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD), Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (Full-Speed DRCC), Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA), and Automatic High Beam (AHB).
Updates and Additions
For the 2.0 series of the Toyota Safety Sense, Toyota has improved upon and added new systems to increase driver safety. The 2.0 now includes a Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (Full-Speed DRCC). This is now a full speed range version of the original Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC). New technologies include Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), which monitors your position in the lane and can autonomously correct if necessary. The other new addition to the TSS 2.0 system is the Road Sign Assist (RSA). This system identifies certain Stop, Yield, Do Not Enter, and Speed Limit signs. It displays them on Multi-Information Display of your vehicle and can deliver visual and audible warnings to drivers to support driver attentiveness.
These impressive updates to the Toyota Safety Sense suite of active, driver-assistive safety systems is a colossal improvement on safety technology and shows Toyota to be a front-runner in the innovation of driver safety. The TSS 2.0 will be integrated into 2019 Toyota models. If you would like more information on the updates to Toyota driver-assistive safety technology, you can contact us at Serra Toyota.
