Is your dad more of a homebody?

There are more than a few members on our team who have fathers who would much rather stay home. If this is the situation you find yourself in, you can take the opportunity to grille some steaks. If the idea of this is a little intimidating, don’t worry because our team also has some world-class cooks and they’ve thoughtfully shared some of their best tips for beginners. Check them out below.

Two Rest Periods — The best steaks shouldn’t hit the grille until they reach room temperature. This will ensure more even cooking. When you’ve pulled them off the cooking surface, let them rest for another five to 10 minutes.

Clean the Grates — For several reasons, it’s always advisable to thoroughly clean the grille grates. Once any burned-on remnants are removed, be sure to liberally brush the grates with oil.

Heat Check — Experienced cooks will be able to tell how done a steak is by how it feels. However, for the novice, a meat thermometer will also tell the story. Rare steaks should be removed when they reach 120 to 125 degrees F; 125 to 130 F for medium rare and at 130 to 135 F for medium.
