Compact sedans are ideal for drivers who desire efficiency and practicality because most offer excellent fuel economies and are rather affordable. City drivers or those who spend most of their time commuting may find exactly what they’re looking for with a compact sedan because they’re easy to maneuver through heavy traffic and can fit in tight parking spaces. Our team here at Serra Toyota will be comparing the 2016 Toyota Corolla L to the base of the 2016 Dodge Dart, the SE model.
Both models are set standard with a manual transmission, however the Corolla L does offer drivers the option of an automatic transmission as well. An automatic transmission is not offered with the Dodge Dart until the highest model on the lineup. The Corolla offers a more efficient fuel economy, whereas the Dart has a more powerful engine.

The Toyota Corolla and the Dodge Dart are quite comparable in size. Their interior volumes are nearly identical, being just shy of 100 cubic feet. Passengers in the front won’t notice much difference when it comes to legroom in these two compact sedans. However, rear seat passengers will have more than five inches of additional legroom in the Corolla compared to the Dart. Both are set with about 13 cubic feet of cargo volume in the trunk.
When it comes to safety, these two have a few things in common. Both the 2016 Corolla L and the 2016 Dart SE come set standard with anti-theft protection, brake assist systems, electronic traction control and a low tire pressure indicator for added convenience. The Corolla received a higher rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for the front passenger crash test, and it also has standard automatic headlights that are not available in the Dart.
Turning our attention to standard convenience features, a lot of the ones that are standard on the Corolla are only optional in the Dart. Some of these features include climate control, power mirrors and locks, steering wheel mounted controls and Bluetooth. The Corolla also has a rear split folding bench seat, which is not available with the Dart.
