The 2016 Toyota Sequoia is more powerful overall in comparison to the 2016 Volvo XC90 pumping out 381 horsepower compared to 316. The XC90 is set with an 8-speed automatic transmission, and the Sequoia is set with a 6-speed. When it comes to safety, both SUVs are set with anti-theft protection automatic headlights and brake assist systems standard. The Sequoia offers a front seat belt height adjuster for comfort that is not available in the Volvo XC90.
The Sequoia seats eight passengers, and the XC90 can fit seven passengers. There is slightly more cargo space in the Sequoia with 18.9 cubic feet compared to the XC90 with 15.8 cubic feet. There is also more legroom for front, second and third row passengers in the Sequoia than in the Volvo XC90.
