The minivan segment of the automotive industry doesn’t usually see much excitement, but this year drivers are in for a treat. The all-new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica will be taking over for the Town & Country model from previous years. With a new model on the market, drivers will want to know how it stands up to the competition. Our team here at Serra Toyota will be pleased to show you how it compares to the iconic Toyota Sienna. Since the 2017 model information has not been released yet for the Sienna, we’re going to compare the new Pacifica to the current 2016 Sienna model.
We’re going to focus on the base models for both of these minivans, so the 2016 Toyota Sienna L and the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica LX. Keep in mind there are higher models available that offer additional features and performance capabilities. To start, both vehicles have a similar starting price point. Both minivans get an estimated 18 mpg in the city. The Sienna averages 25 mpg on the highway, and the Chrysler Pacifica is expected to get 28 mpg on the highway.

When it comes to performance, these minivans have quite a bit in common. Both are set standard with front-wheel drive and are equipped with similar sized engines. Although they’re similarly sized, the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica does pump out slightly more horsepower than the Sienna. Both of these vehicles have a lot of the same safety features as well. Since minivans are designed specifically for families with small children, safety is something that’s taken very seriously. Both of these minivans are set standard with brake assist systems, electronic traction control, stability control and child safety door locks. Automatic headlights are also standard for the best visibility at all times. The 2016 Toyota Sienna comes out on top with standard active head restraints and third row manual headrests, which are not available in the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica.
Turning our attention to the interior, drivers will notice right off the bat that the 2016 Toyota Sienna offers more storage space than the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. Other than the cargo volume, these two have very similar dimensions. The Sienna can tow up to 3,500 pounds, and the Pacifica can tow up to 3,600 pounds. As for standard features, both are set with plenty of convenience and entertainment items to make your time on the road more comfortable and enjoyable. The 2016 Toyota Sienna and the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica both come set with cruise control, dual climate control, keyless entry, an MP3 player, steering wheel mounted controls and a backup camera. The Sienna comes out on top again with a standard CD player, automatic climate controls and a remote fuel filler door release, which are all not available on the base model of the Pacifica.
