Shopping for a truck is arguably more difficult than shopping for any other vehicle type because there are tons of trim levels to choose from. The base model of the 2016 Toyota Tundra, the SR, only has 14 trim levels to pick from. With five other models and countless more trim levels to decipher between, it becomes impossible to compare to the competition as well.
Our team here at Serra Toyota wants to help by providing detailed comparisons between two similar trucks. The 2016 Toyota Tundra 4x4 Double Cab SR is most comparable to the 2016 Ford F-150 Supercab 4x4 145-inch WB XL Styleside when it comes to price and size. Both trucks offer seating for six passengers and come standard with 6-speed automatic transmissions.

Drivers will notice the Ford F-150 is more fuel efficient than the Toyota Tundra, but the Tundra offers much more power, which in turn gives it more performance capabilities. The Tundra pumps out 381 horsepower and gets 401 lb.-ft. of torque, whereas the F-150 produces 282 horsepower and gets 253 lb.-ft. of torque. Front seat passengers in the F-150 have a little more space than those in the Tundra. However, the rear seat passengers in the Tundra have more than an inch of extra leg space compared to those in the backseat of the F-150.
When it comes to safety, there are a few things the trucks have in common such as standard automatic headlights, anti-theft protection and electronic traction control. However, the 2016 Tundra SR comes out on top with a standard brake assist system, child safety door locks and front knee airbags, which are not available on the 2016 F-150 WB XL Styleside. As far as convenience features go, there are plenty that are standard on the Tundra but optional on the F-150. To point out a few, the Tundra has standard cruise control, an on-board computer, a CD player and MP3 player, heated exterior mirrors, keyless entry, a backup camera and power mirrors and locks. All of which are only optional with the F-150.
