The first difference we will mention is the most obvious: vehicle size. Although both models will seat five passengers in total, the RAV4 is more roomy than the C-HR. In width and height, the two vehicles are relatively similar, but in length, the RAV4 is quite a bit longer than the C-HR. The 2017 Toyota RAV4 has an overall length of 183.5 inches and the 2018 Toyota C-HR comes in at 171.2 inches.

Both the 2018 Toyota C-HR and the 2017 Toyota RAV4 feature the Toyota Safety Sense™ P (TSS-P) as standard equipment. This suite of safety features includes the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD), Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA), Automatic High Beams (AHB), and Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC). You’ll also find that each models has the Toyota’s Star Safety System™ as a standard feature. This combines Enhanced Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA) and Smart Stop Technology® (SST).

Another difference between the two vehicles are their trim level offerings. As a new model, the 2018 Toyota C-HR has less trim level options than the 2017 Toyota RAV4. The C-HR is currently offered in two trims: the XLE and the XLE Premium. The 2017 Toyota RAV4 will give you more options for its trim levels as well as allow you to choose hybrid options. The 2017 Toyota RAV4 trim spectrum includes the LE, XLE, XLE Hybrid, SE, SE Hybrid, Limited, Limited Hybrid, and Platinum trim levels.
