Gas-powered 2020 Highlander models feature a 295-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine that delivers 263 pound-feet of torque. Drivers earn a manufacturer-estimated 22 combined mpg in gas-powered Highlander models. The lineup of Highlander Hybrid models features a new-generation Toyota Hybrid System with a high-efficiency 2.5-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine paired to 10 electric motors. Highlander Hybrid models deliver 240 horsepower and offer a manufacturer-estimated 34 combined mpg.
Highlander L and LE models are fitted with three-passenger second- and third-row bench seats, offering to seat up to eight passengers. The XLE, Limited, and Platinum Highlander models feature two Captain’s Chairs in their second rows, replacing the three-passenger bench and making room for seven riders. These Captain's Chairs can be replaced to upgrade the seating room back to eight passengers in XLE, Limited, and Platinum models.
Technology is prevalent throughout the entire Highlander model, from safety to entertainment. Each model comes equipped with a standard 8-inch touchscreen audio system with Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, and Amazon Alexa capability. Higher grade Highlander models offer an upgrade to a larger 12.3-inch display.
