The 2020 Toyota Highlander is available in a range of exterior color options that includes Blizzard Pearl, Celestial Silver Metallic, Midnight Black Metallic, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Moon Dust, Ruby Flare Pearl, Blueprint, and Opulent Amber. As we said before, the 2020 Highlander is offered with a gas-powered or hybrid powertrain. Each of the five available Highlander trim grades is available with a gas-powered engine, while the hybrid powertrain is available on all but the L grade. Gas-powered Highlander models feature a 295-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine paired to a Direct Shift 8-speed automatic transmission. This power duo delivers 263 pound-feet of torque and offers a manufacturer-estimated 22 mpg. Highlander Hybrid models offer a manufacturer-estimated 34 mpg with the new-generation Toyota Hybrid System. This system combines two electric motors with a high-efficiency 2.5-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine.
So, what exactly sets apart each of the Highlander trim grades? Below we have broken down some of the standard features that are offered in the L, LE, XLE, Limited, and Platinum Highlander trim levels.
Highlander L – Smart Key Entry, 4.2-inch multi-information display, 8-inch touchscreen display, 8-way power driver’s seat, three-zone automatic climate control, Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Highlander LE – Features added over L trim include Blind Spot Monitor, leather-trimmed steering wheel, leather-trimmed shift knob, and LED fog lamps.
Highlander XLE – Features added over LE trim include Auto LED headlamps with Auto High Beam, LED fog lamps, machined-face alloy wheels, heated front seats, 10-way power driver’s seat, 4-way power front passenger seat, 7-inch multi-information display, second-row Captain’s Chairs, power tilt and slide moon roof, and roof rails.
Highlander Limited – Features added over XLE trim include heated and ventilated front seats, driver’s seat memory features, JBL® Audio System, navigation system, ambient interior lighting, “Highlander” puddle lamp, and 20-inch Limited style alloy wheels.
Highlander Platinum – Features added over Limited trim include head-up display, birds-eye-view camera, 12.3-inch multimedia display, heated second-row seats, panoramic moonroof, digital display rearview mirror, and 20-inch Platinum style wheels.
