Toyota is currently working on enhancing some of their existing vehicle models, tuning them for extra engine power and overall performance to release sportier variations of them for the market. So far, Toyota has unleashed a Gazoo Racing (GR) tuned Yaris subcompact car, and now it seems they’re setting their sights on the Corolla, with a GR version hopefully coming to showrooms within the next year.
The question is: What can we expect with the upcoming 2022 Toyota GR Corolla?
As far as the engine goes, the GR Corolla is expected to pack a 257-hp turbocharged three-cylinder engine, just like the GR Yaris. The Corolla version could come with both manual and automatic transmissions, with the former being more likely since six-speed manuals are a favorite in modern sport compact cars.
The current Corolla models are the most fuel-efficient in their class, and while a GR variant may not be as great when it comes to mileage, it’s still possible that it will achieve a respectable highway rating of approximately 30 mpg.
