Performance and Efficiency
Honda has added a hybrid powertrain to the Accord, giving you two engine options. The standard turbocharged 1.5L four-cylinder engine offers up to 192 horsepower while the hybrid powertrain can get up to 204 horsepower. While the Camry only offers a hybrid powertrain, it outperforms both Honda’s engines at between 225 and 232 horses. Honda ad Toyota only offer an automatic transmission with front-wheel drive as standard. However, Toyota also makes all-wheel drive available. The two models are comparable for efficiency with the Camry getting up to 51 mpg combined with its top trim compared to 48 mpg for the Accord. Even all-wheel drive allows the LE to offer up to 50 mpg.
Technology for the Win
Today’s drivers expect to see the latest technology on sedans. Since these two models have been recently redesigned, they include a variety of tech features. Both models make touchscreens standard, but the Toyota Camry has a slightly larger base display at eight inches compared to seven inches for the Accord. However, Toyota also makes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wireless while these systems are wired on the Honda’s lower trims. When it comes to safety, both models perform well. They received the highest rating for NHTSA and Top Safety Pick+, giving buyers more confidence behind the wheel. Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard on the Camry with Honda including many systems across all trims. However, blind-spot and rear cross-traffic warnings are only standard on the Camry. You’ll find the two systems standard on the higher Accord trims. Each model includes some cutting-edge safety technology, such as traffic sign recognition and assistance in heavy traffic.
Other Considerations
Both Honda and Toyota include more comfort features and more sophisticated materials in the higher-end models. They have the same warranty duration to give you more peace of mind.
