A/C Inspection and Service

When you have A/C problems, our experts at Serra Toyota can help. We will perform an A/C inspection to get to the root of your A/C problems. Once your A/C issue has been diagnosed, our technicians can remedy the problem. Often it is just a refrigerant issue, you have a leak, or your A/C refrigerant just needs a recharge.  Other problems may lie with the fan, the compressor, the evaporator or another component of your A/C system. Regardless of the problem, once our technician knows what that issue is, they can get to work to repair your system.

Common Problems With an A/C System

The usual complaints when an A/C system goes down are warm or hot hair issuing from the vents or little or no pressure to push cool air out of the vent. Sometimes it could be no cool air coming out, just warm air. In any of these cases, our technicians can solve the problem.

  • A/C blowing out warm or hot air: If this is your complaint, it may mean a major problem with the system. Typically, if water gets into the A/C system, it combines with your refrigerant and makes a highly corrosive compound, an acid, that will literally begin dissolving soft parts of your A/C system like the rubber seals that help contain your refrigerant. When this occurs, your refrigerant can leak, and it can affect whether the air coming out is cool air.
  • Funky smells: If your nice refreshing air is tainted with weird smells, it can signify mold growth, that means moisture has entered the system somehow and propagated fungal growth. It may stem from a damp or dirty cabin air filter, or it could be that the drain in your evaporator case has somehow become clogged.
  • Weak flow or no flow: Another cause and effect of water in the A/C system is that moisture in the evaporator core can trap dirt or debris or facilitate mold growth. Thus, air flow is partially or totally blocked. Another possibility with a lack of air pressure is because of restriction in the evaporator core or your blower motor may be failing.

If you’re having a problem related to any of these issues, it is important that you bring your vehicle into Serra Toyota for A/C Services. Failure to do so can lead to air compressor failure, or restrictive functionality from the motor or fan itself, which can lead to greater expenses.

How Often Should I Get A/C Service?

Your owner’s manual will provide a maintenance schedule for you A/C system as well as other recommended maintenance schedules for other systems in your vehicle. If you don’t have your manual, the usual recommendation for A/C Service is to have an A/C inspection at least once a year.
